Creating a safe home starts with building strong, respectful relationships and fathers play a vital role in that foundation. At Stronger Families, we believe that when dads are supported to change harmful behaviours and reconnect with their families in healthy ways, everyone benefits. That’s the purpose of our Caring Dads program.
What Is Caring Dads?
Caring Dads is a 17 week evidence based group program that supports fathers who have used controlling, harmful, or neglectful behaviour towards their children or their children’s mothers. Many of these men have experienced trauma themselves and lack healthy models of fatherhood.
The program offers a space where men can reflect, learn, and grow. With the help of trained facilitators, participants develop the tools to:
Understand how their behaviour has impacted their family
Take responsibility without shame
Rebuild trust and emotional safety with their children
Parent in a way that is consistent, respectful, and supportive
It’s not just about parenting tips, it’s about helping men become safe, emotionally present, and respectful fathers.
Why This Matters
Family and domestic violence often stems from deep rooted trauma and unresolved patterns. Without intervention, these patterns can pass from one generation to the next. The Caring Dads program is designed to break that cycle by helping fathers do the inner work required for lasting change.
Children who grow up with safe, involved fathers are more likely to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. When men step up and choose healthier ways to parent, the entire home becomes a safer, more stable environment.
Local Impact
Stronger Families delivers the Caring Dads program across Perth, Peel, and the South West (Whadjuk and Binjareb regions). We work with fathers from all walks of life each with a story, each ready to change. The outcomes speak for themselves: reduced conflict, stronger father child bonds, and improved family wellbeing.
This isn’t just about fixing what’s broken, it’s about creating hope, safety, and connection.
