Healing Broken Fathers, Reuniting Families, Reclaiming Love At Home

In Australia, more than 2.9 million children have witnessed family and domestic violence before the age of 15. These experiences often lead to long-term trauma. Breaking this cycle requires more than supporting survivors—it means working with those who’ve caused harm to prevent it from happening again.

That’s why Stronger Families exists. Their core program, Caring Dads, provides a safe, structured space for fathers to confront their actions and learn healthier ways of relating to their children and partners. It’s not about punishment—it’s about accountability, education, and growth.

How the Program Works

Through weekly sessions, participants explore how control has shaped their behaviours. Many arrive resistant, but as the program progresses, they begin to understand the impact of their actions. They learn that real fatherhood isn’t about dominance—it’s about presence, empathy, and respect.

“Before the program, I didn’t realise how much fear I had created. Now I listen more. My daughter told me she feels like she has her dad back. That meant the world to me.”

In 2024, over 55 men completed the Caring Dads program, with 97% reporting improved relationships with their children.

More Than One Solution

Programs like Steps Toward Caring intervene earlier, working with high-risk individuals before harm escalates. Strengthening Families provides trauma therapy for mothers and children, aligned with their partners’ progress. In total, the organisation supported over 460 individuals last year while also engaging broader communities through workshops, school sessions, and outreach events across Western Australia.

The impact is amplified through partnerships with WA Police, Curtin University, Allambee Counselling, and Kids First Australia, delivering wraparound support in the Binjareb and Whadjuk regions. This approach enables Stronger Families to offer legal, emotional, and community-based guidance to families in crisis.

Symbol of Hope

The lotus flower emblem symbolises transformation. Even when rooted in murky waters, it grows toward the light. That’s the kind of renewal the organisation supports—helping families rise from trauma into safety and healing.

Raising Awareness

Education plays a key role. In 2024, public campaigns reached over 20,000 people, raising awareness of the impact of violence on children. These efforts shift the focus from blame to shared responsibility.

By educating fathers and supporting survivors, Stronger Families builds a future where families can thrive—free from violence and fear.
